More from “A Special Kill”
More from the Chapter, “A Special Kill”
Dan had a lump in his throat, for an hour. No amount of black coffee was helping. His hand shook as he dialed.
“Meredith. I don’t know how to tell you this, it’s Jim. The police found his body….drained of blood.” He let out a deep breath.
A wave of cool relief washed down through his head, into his chest.
“He’s dead! He’s dead, what a relief. It’s over, it’s finally over.” She blurted out. “We were having a hard time, that’s what I️ meant. Does the Sheriff have any leads on Sean?”
“No, they still haven’t found Sean. I’m coming over, you shouldn’t be alone right now..”
“No need to come over, I need to go shoe shopping.”
“AH Meredith,” Dan raised his voice. Did you hear me, Jim, your fiancée is dead!”
“Yes, I heard you, I guess I’m just in shock. What if he becomes a vampire? Where is his body, now?”
Dan’s stomach bounced. He hadn’t even thought of that. What if Jim turns?
“The coroner’s office. Sheriff Keane said there will be an autopsy.”
“He can turn Dan. We need to get the body and destroy it.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?” he said. “Lets think about this.”
“There is nothing to think about. Meet me at the coroner’s office at 6 pm it should be closed by then. I have to go, shopping before the sun goes down.”
